Topic: Chinese Classics (VII): Zhuang Zi and Postmodernism

The lecture will interpret Zhuangzi’s thoughts through several fables of Zhuangzi, and then compare these thoughts with postmodernism.

Topic: History and Humanities (V): Who Kidnapped Our Sense of Beauty? -- Another View toward “Outlaws of the Marsh”

 

Lu Xun, one of the greatest Chinese writers ever said that all Chinese could find in themselves certain personalities of the characters in the Chinese novel “Outlaws of the Marsh”. Then, what exactly are these personalities? Are there any defects in these personalities? And how did these personalities negatively influence the sense of beauty of Chinese people? The lecture will give the answers explicitly.

The lecture will give you an introduction to the novel “Blue House”, such as how was it written, what’s the relationship between the prototype and the reality. Furthermore it will make a comparison between the histories of Nanjing and Shanghai.

Wise Parents (VII): Mr. Tao’s Suggestion on Establishing a Harmonious Relationship between Parents and Kids

In a well-functioned family, each member grows positively. Malfunction of a family will damage the role-play and efficiency of each family member. This lecture will make an analysis of common seen problems in the communication of a family and points out the basic factor to establish a harmonious parent-kid relationship.

Science and Art

Professor Zhao considers philosophy as a pendulum swinging between science and art. Science is rational, while art emotional. Either too much ration or too much emotion will do harm to us. Therefore we should keep a balance between ration and emotion, in another word we should love science and art equally. In this lecture, Professor Zhao will talk freely about his opinion on the relationship among science, art and philosophy, as well as his understanding of life.
