A Brief Introduction to NL’s Reader Activities for Disabled

In the spirit of public service,Nanjing Library invariably pays great attention to the service for the disadvantaged while ensuring the public basic entitlement to culture. With the advanced facilities, the reading room for the visually impaired has become the Jiangsu base for the disabled. Besides, NL actively cooperates with the disabled person’s federation, the association of the blind and school for the blind in the book delivery, the door to door service for the disabled, skill training and so on. The idea of “Reader First” as well as comfortable reading environment makes NL a superb place for the disabled. 

 

A Brief Introduction to NL’s  Reader Activities for Young Migrant Labors

To enhance the working capability of young migrant labors, Nanjing Library has held 20 computer training classes for a total of 600 people since its launch in 2009. It aims to encourage the migrant workers to take advantage of library, to inspire enthusiasm for learning in them, and to help NL realize its educational function.

 

A Brief Introduction to NL’s Reader Activity for Children 

The service for children is one of featured services of NL. About 500 activities have been held by NL since 2006 , which not only diversify the cultural life of children, but also earn reputation from the public. Included are reading guidance, “Little Librarian” campaign, skill training and so on.

 

A Brief Introduction to Tao Feng Reading Campaign

The “Tao Feng Reading Campaign” is launched by Nanjing Library to provide an opportunity for readers to taste the Chinese classics and dip into the profound traditional Chinese culture. A total of 30 reading parties in 8 sessions have been held since its launch in 2009, covering such classics as The Great Learning, The Analects of Confucius, The Book of Songs and Poems, which help NL earn a high repute among readers.

 

A Brief Introduction to Tao Feng Book Award 

The “Tao Feng Book Award” was launched by Nanjing Library in 2010 with the aim of advocating Jiangsu publications and arousing the public interest in reading excellent books. Its winners are decided by voting results of readers and experts, including 10 excellent books and 50 nominated books which are published in Jiangsu every year. Major successes have been achieved in two consecutive sessions since 2010, exerting a lasting influence on readers at large.

  

A Brief Introduction to NL’s Activities for Elderly Readers

To diversify the cultural life of the elderly, Nanjing Library offers those readers a cultural feast by launching the computer training campaign “To Surf Online, To Enjoy Diversified Retirement”, which finds a strong echo from the public. As a part of Cultural Project , it not only promotes the lifelong learning, but also helps NL realize its social function.
